Bring Me Your Midnight

Title: Bring Me Your Midnight

Author: Rachel Griffin

Genre: YA fantasy

Thank you, NetGalley, for this book.

This is not a genre I read often. It just doesn’t appeal to me. But when I get books from NetGalley, I always give them a chance, because why not? And I’m really glad I did with this one. I really liked it. It’s marketed as “romantasy” but the romance part is definitely PG-13.

Mortana is the daughter of the head of a coven of witches who practice “low magic” on an island. The mainlanders, who are not witches, are suspicious of the witches but when Tana and their governor’s son are engaged in a political move, they give Tana and her coven a chance.

However, Tana meets Wolfe, another witch who lives on the other side of the magic. She had no idea another coven existed, and they practice “high magic” which has been banned. As Tana learns more about Wolfe and his coven, her allegiances to her coven become complicated. This book was really well-written and, even though it was mostly predictable, I still enjoyed this one.
